This was our second stay at the Hop Kiln. The property has been beautifully converted by the lovely owners and is in a very peaceful location. We had fabulous food at pubs in the nearby villages and did some great walks in the local area (Bircher Common and Hey Bluff). We also discovered the old part of Leominster on this visit - some interesting historical buildings and nice cafes. And the large, fully enclosed garden was much enjoyed by our energetic dog!

Rural Retreats were first class, we will definitely book with them again. The Hop Kiln was lovely, in a very nice, quiet location ideal for visiting nearby Hereford, Ludlow and the Welsh borders. It was very well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable, the host,Camilla made us very welcome and was both friendly and helpful,. The welcome hamper was very generous and full of local products, it was very tasty and much appreciated. We would certainly recommend staying there.

The Hop Kiln was one of the nicest and most comfortable cottages we have stayed in - beautifully and thoughtfully equipped and furnished. The location was quiet and with easy access to two National Trust properties, one of which, Croft Castle, offered excellent woodland walks and pretty local villages. The antique shops in nearby Leominster were also worth a visit. An excellent place to take dogs - a large enclosed garden and good local walks.

This is a lovely property in a quiet setting on a farm; it has a nice big garden with comfortable outdoor seating. The inside has comfortable furniture, good lighting and an excellent shower. The only snags we had were the single frying pan, no garlic crusher and no wooden cutting board. Also, although there is a heating control in the property it is over-ridden by the owners who couldn't get it to come on when we wanted it but rapidly supplied us with portable electric heaters.

The Hop Kiln is in a lovely location, very peaceful setting and handy for great walking, fishing and lovely pubs and restaurants. We used the tennis court, which made for some interesting games as the service is a little past it’s best now, but still good fun. Our suggestion to improve the property would be put a shower screen round the bath so that the property benefitted from 2 showers. Also, the bedrooms don’t have wardrobes, just a free standing clothes rack in each room, with just 6 hangers on each. We did ask for more hangers though. Finally, whilst the kitchen is well equipped, it would benefit from some larger glasses for beer, G&T and wine rather than the plastic ones and small wine glasses provided. And some more space for our own food stuffs would have been handy as the cupboards were all pretty full with pots and pans etc. The small freezer unit in the smaller fridge was also full up with old packets of peas etc, so I think a quick check after each booking would be good to clear out old food.

Absolutely beautiful place in a beautiful setting. The accommodation was very comfortable, beautifully and tastefully decorated, and extremely well appointed. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed, and unlike lots of holiday rentals there was excellent lighting. The beds were comfortable and the shower was very good. We enjoyed the tennis court, table tennis, and the view of sheep grazing in the orchard just outside. Our hosts were very welcoming. We'd consider returning.
