The property was in a great location, with stunning views. The kitchen was well equipped, and the Aga was a welcome addition. The lounge was plenty big enough for the seven of us, although the settees could benefit from more support. Having a separate TV room as a bonus. Perhaps the only drawback was that some of the beds were rather uncomfortable. This has been raised in other reviews and needs attention. It detracted from what was otherwise a superb venue.

A spacious and well laid out house which was larger than it appeared on the web site. The Aga made the house warm and cosy. The tall swing was a hit with both children and adults alike. A better house folder with more details of activities would have been appreciated. Walks of different lengths from the house, including the Yew Tree pub in All Stretton. Train/bus details to Ludlow and Shrewsbury. Some local menus.

Nine family members stayed over a long weekend to celebrate a 70th birthday. The property is warm and comfortable having both an Aga and conventional oven, a lovely big fridge/ freezer and masses of crockery, glasses and cutlery. The bedrooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. All the linen was fresh and soft and we had big fluffy towels. Views from sitting room and dining room were spectacular with lots of window to enjoy the views from three sides. We managed a reasonable walk on two of our days even though it was January! We lit the log fire in the evenings and were very cozy and we all slept well. In fact it was just perfect and we hope to return sometime soon.

This is a beautiful house in the most wonderful location. The bedrooms and bathrooms are well appointed and cared for, the garden faces the sun and setting sun and the views are amazing. If you like walking there's so much to explore and some great walks straight from the house. The aga kept the house cosy and the fire was made up ready to light when we got back. There was ample hot water and good showers. If there was one thing I would change it is the lack of mugs and plates - there was enough for one each but, for example, we had to wash bowls from our starter to have bowls for our pudding. I think, in an otherwise very well equipped house, there should be enough for two settings.

We booked The Oaks for a family weekend to celebrate my husband 's 70th birthday with our children, their spouses and grandchildren. What a stunning location on the side of Long Mynd - a real escape from everything. The house was perfect for our family of 10 - of all ages. The grandchildren loved the playroom upstairs. There was a lovely welcome hamper with additional items in the fridge and bowl of fruit. The whole house was cosy warm. We also hired a hot tub which was a very welcome addition and went down a treat. All in all, a wonderful family experience and the organisation by Rural Retreats was second to none. Very highly recommended.

Fantastic house in a stunning location. It was brilliant for a gathering of friends, plenty of space for 10 and a great layout downstairs. The master bedroom in particular is gorgeous with lots of space. The location and views were truly fantastic with gorgeous walks from the doorstep. If you are taking a dog, it’s worth noting the owners will not permit more than one (even If you ask nicely!) and you are asked to restrict the dog to the kitchen and hallway which is not ideal (and unnecessary given the space and flooring type downstairs) and it’s for this reason alone that we would not return. Everything else was superb!

Comfortable and well maintained house in an absolutely perfect position for walking on the Longmynd, the Lawley and the Carodoc. Very comfortable and well equipped. It is dog friendly but I had not realised that once you arrive, there is a sign asking visitors to restrict dogs to the hall /utility/ kitchen area. No problem with that, but if you have a dog who is used to spending evenings with you in the TV/lounge areas, you may have a small problem.
