Well designed little cottage with everything you need
Very comfortable, warm, cosy cottage with excellent quality furnishings and fittings and an impressive welcome pack of local produce - very welcome. Set in a beautiful village with good local amenities, a stay here is highly recommended.
Location was perfect in the middle of the village.
All was great. The basket of food and drinks so very welcome and appreciated. Glad I could increase the heating and it wasn't fixed.
Spotless, comfortable, small but perfectly formed.
We loved our stay in Mason's Cottage. It's the perfect spot for a quiet getaway but also near to beautiful towns and villages. Hope to return one day soon.

Lovely cottage and restored my faith in Rural Retreats’ properties after our last holiday. Nice location with everything within easy access and gorgeous food at the pub. Lovely and clean inside and the comfiest bed I think I’ve ever slept in; wish I could have taken it home. It is definitely only for two people but it’s nice and cosy. We managed but there’s no real hanging space for clothes, just 4 coat hangers and some wall hooks but to be fair, there isn’t room for anything else; just don’t take lots of stuff that won’t keep in your case/bag or the smallish draws. Highly recommended.
Cottage is very well equipped with everything you need for a break away from home. Bed is very comfortable. Cottage is in a great location snd easy to get about locally and explore the fantastic countryside.
Lovely cottage in great location. Pubs within walking distance which serve good food. Castle Howard nearby is well worth a visit
Everything good regarding the cottage, however access to the parking area was more problematic than we would have liked despite having a smallish car.
It was well equipped, comfortable and in a beautiful location. Compact kitchen but good spacious bathroom. Decent welcome hamper. Quiet. Perfect for a range of walks in the area.
Beautifully presented cottage. Comfortable, snug and perfectly located in the village close to relevant amenities. Perfect walking country on the doorstep too. Would recommend highly and definitely worth a return visit.
Very well provided and cosy cottage, without interesting features. The driveway was a bit tricky to navigate with a deep rut in the gravel making getting in and out difficult.
What a lovely, clean and well equipped cottage! Whilst we already expected the property to be small, the layout, high ceilings and decor make it deceptively spacious, yet very homely. Perfectly addressed our needs for a short break with our dog, who loved it as much as us. A fantastic, high quality and sympathetic renovation on an old masons workshop, in a lovely village with two very good pubs. Well appointed with everything we needed and more, with a bonus hamper of goodies and essentials. If we are in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay again and would highly recommend for an all year get away.

As all restrictions have been lifted across the United Kingdom, you are no longer legally required to self-isolate upon a positive Covid-19 result. You won’t be asked to take daily tests or isolate following contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. This means, if you would like to modify or cancel your booking due to Covid-19, our normal terms and conditions now apply.
If the restrictions are reintroduced and you are forced to cancel your holiday due to legal restrictions, please be rest assured that we will help you to move your booking within the same property, offer a voucher to be used within the same property within a year or cancel your booking in this instance and we will refund you the price you paid in full.
